This lithograph "L'Ile de Bréhat - Le Beau Pays de Bretagne" is signed and stamped with a red stamp in the lower right-hand corner. It is authentic and old.
There is a fold and a line of ink from top to bottom on the left margin, a 0.6 cm tear in the bottom right margin, a triangular stain in the bottom right corner, minor soiling in the margin, small stains on the litho (in the sky). On verso, a few small stains.
The lithograph remains very fresh in color, however, and once framed most of these defects will be invisible.
We have taken as many photos of the defects as possible so that you can judge the condition.
Sold as presented.
Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver and illustrator. He began his career as a draftsman, then moved on to intaglio engraving, specifically etching in 1882. At the same time, he embarked on a career as a stage director and set designer, in 1886, of shadow plays at the Chat Noir cabaret, shows that he improved by creating highly innovative color sets. He then devoted himself exclusively to painting and engraving, making a name for himself in the history of etching, woodcutting, lithography and watercolor (he painted around a thousand watercolors).
