Emilio Grau i Sala, known as Emilio Grau Sala,
born in Barcelona on June 22, 1911, and died in Barcelona on June 21, 1975, was a Spanish painter, theater designer and illustrator.
He came to France in 1932. In 1936, he married the painter Ángeles Santos Torroella.
A notable colorist (oils and watercolors, pastels) and illustrator, he was a member of Maurice Boitel's group at the Salon Comparaisons. Emilio Grau Sala has illustrated several books: Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du mal, Gustave Flaubert's Madame Bovary, Guy de Maupassant's Bel-Ami, Colette's Claudine series, Marcel Proust's À la recherche du temps perdu, Francis de Miomandre's Écrit sur l'eau, and has produced lithographs, etchings and posters.
