This is a fairly hastily sketched and painted picture which leads me to believe it may have been painted
en plein air. At the bottom left has been written in pencil " Skagen August 1948" and to the bottom right it has been signed S D also in pencil. The painting is mainly watercolour but there seem to be feint pencil lines from an initial sketch. Svend (sometimes spelt Sven) Danelund (1916 - 2001) is a well-known Danish artist who was born in Skagen, a scenic summer destination attractive to artists, most notably the Skagen Painters who gathered there towards the end of the 19th c.
The painting is in good condition other than some stains mainly on the reverse side. It has separated from the paper it was stuck on to but as you can see from the photos, they are still together, although the backing is messier and has a small tear. On the back of that paper is a note stating "Picture painted by Sven Danelund, August 1948, Danmark (Skagen)". If you need more photos or have questions, please send me a message.
The painting measures28.5 cms x 21 cms and the backig paper is 33.5 cms x 24.5 cms. It comes with a seperate mount, as can be seen in the photos, which measures 50.5 cms x 40.5 cms with an aperture of 27.5 cms x 20 cms. The painting and backing weigh 29 g and the mount is 142 g. All measurements are approximate.
