VICARY (Marcel) (1893-1976). IN MOROCCO, ALBUM SHEETS. Paris, Henri Leclerc 1922. In-8 in sheets, in a filled publisher's folder. Rare album, printed in very small numbers on strongly tinted paper, illustrated by Marcel Vicaire, orientalist painter and founder of the Association of French painters and sculptors in Morocco. Color plates enhanced with gouache, some captioned in French and Arabic. The 4-page preface is by Jérôme and Jean Tharaud. Perfect condition
Marcel Vicaire dedicated his life to protecting and promoting the riches of Moroccan heritage from 1923 to 1958.
A painter with a degree from the Beaux Arts in Paris, he fell under the spell of Morocco and its inhabitants in 1920.
Appointed Inspector of Moroccan Arts and Crafts then curator of the Batha museum in Fez, he was also a member of the society of Orientalist Painters
