CHARLON Léon-Paul, born in Paris around 1900 (Ec.Fr.). A landscape painter, his talent was recognized at the Salon des Indépendants from 1926 to 1932 for views of Montmartre and the bridges of Paris. Passionate about horticulture, he also produced delicate gouaches of flowers, such as this 1938 work entitled "Zinnias". The framing commissioned by the previous owners, just as refined, enhances the subject wonderfully.
