Born Anne-Marie Lederer and wife of the painter Léon Carré, member of the Salon des Artistes Français, she discovered Algeria during her husband's stay at Villa Abd-el-Tif from 1909 to 1911. Her works are influenced by Japonism and the oriental miniature that she reinterprets with great charm and craftsmanship.
