For information:
Gabriel Perelle was born in Vernon on March 7, 1604 and died in Paris on June 6, 1677.
He was trained by Daniel Rabel and produced several hundred engravings based on his own drawings and those of his competitors. These etchings and engravings mainly represent landscapes in the Paris region, notably views of castles, where he introduced variety by adding ruins and various accessories.
Gabriel Pérelle, who was assisted in his work by his two sons Nicolas (1625-1692) and Adam (1638-1695) and by two of Callot's sons, also produced engravings of battles and war scenes.
Gabriel Pérelle, who was also the brother of a landscape painter working in Orléans, was the father-in-law of painter René Lonchon.
Gabriel Pérelle was also director of plans and maps for the King's cabinet.
Nicolas Langlois, born in 1640 and died in 1703, was a printer, bookseller, print merchant and publisher.
Son of Parisian bookseller and print merchant François Langlois dit Chartres, he was received as a master in 1655 and as a printer in 1686. He was the father of bookseller and print publisher Nicolas II Langlois (1670-1707), who succeeded him at the same address. He died shortly before April 1, 1703.
