The engraving shows a woman in profile, reaching out to grasp an object out of frame, her eyes hidden under a bonnet.

This work is made after the Guercin "Guercino inv" and also bears the mention "F Bartolozzi sculp".

A self-taught artist, Guercin (1591-1666), whose real name was Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, began his training with painters from his hometown, Cento. He then continued his studies in Bologna, where he had access to the works and artistic environment of the Carracci. His career led him to work successively in Venice, Rome and Bologna, producing a prolific body of work that can be found today in numerous museums around the world as well as in churches in Italy.

Some small stains are visible on the engraving.

The dimensions with frame are 46 x 36.5 cm and without frame 27 x 21 cm.
