Pair of framed engravings from the beginning of the 19th century representing the imperial couple. Napoleon the Great and Marie Louise of Austria.
History Pair of engravings part of the famous series published by the engraver-publisher Pierre Audouin (1762-1822) who called on the best artists and engravers to illustrate portraits and contemporary events of the Revolution and the Empire, in particular the Napoleon's military campaigns. The portrait of Napoleon in his Emperor's outfit was created based on the work of the great miniaturist Charles de Châtillon (1777-1844).  The portrait of Empress Marie-Louise, adorned with a superb tiara, is also engraved with a burin by Pierre Audouin based on the bust of Bosio on a drawing by Pierre-Michel Bourdon (1778-1841).
Good general condition with some stains and foxing. Small losses on the original frames.
