Very beautiful suite of six color engravings representing oriental characters in traditional costumes such as the Great Lord, the Tchelebi, the African woman, the Jannissary, the Armenian (who goes to church to get married), and the Young Turk playing of Tchegour (freckles, spots).
These engravings are taken from the collection published by Charles de Ferriol, French Ambassador to Constantinople, in 1715, on the costumes of the Ottoman Empire, illustrated with engravings by Le Hay after paintings by Jean-Baptiste van Moor (1671 -1737): Collection of one hundred prints representing the various nations of the Levant.
