<meta charset="UTF-8" />Large full-length portrait engraving in majesty of King Louis XIV after the 1701 portrait by Hyacinthe Rigaud, depicting the monarch in coronation costume. The latter, in a sumptuous setting, displays all the attributes of the French Monarchy: fleur-de-lys mantle lined with ermine, Charlemagne sword, crown, scepter and hand of justice. The engraving or print is presented in a handsome, wide wooden channel frame, gilded with gold leaf in matt and gloss, with its original blown-glass pane.
The frame dates from the 1840s-50s, making our engraving an interesting historical object that was produced "under the cloak" for Legitimist Royalists during the reign of Louis Philippe or Napoleon III.
This is a highly decorative piece, with beautiful gilding in excellent condition, which has been cleaned by our gilder.
