Large full-length portrait engraving of King Charles X, based on the 1825 portrait by English painter Thomas Lawrence that is still on display in the Royal Collection at Windsor Palace: Portrait of King Charles en X at the Palais des Tuileries, in dark blue uniform laced with silver, wearing the Star of the Garter and of the Holy Spirit, the Golden Fleece and the ribbon of the Holy Spirit, the garter on his leg, his feathered hat on his left arm. The portrait was published as an engraving in England in 1829, after which the rights were acquired by Chaillou, a print merchant on rue Saint Honoré in Paris.
Our engraving or print is presented in a handsome (older) Empire-style palmettes frame in wood gilded with gold leaf (including on the field) and bears on the back the label of the print dealer Addé, 15 quai Voltaire, Paris.
A large, highly decorative piece, beautifully gilded in excellent condition and cleaned by our gilder.
