Orfeo TAMBURI (1910-1994) was an Italian painter and engraver. He is best known for his depictions of the urban fabric. His passion for etching and warm-toned prints with broad lines was inspired by Cézanne. In the 60s, he was hired by Fortune magazine to depict the major cities of the United States. In 1971, he moved to Paris and illustrated the capital. That same year, the Italian President awarded him the Gold Medal of Cultural Merit for his body of work.
