Very beautiful engraving originally made by Isidore Stanislas Helman (1743-1809) and Pierre-Philippe Choffard (1730-1809) in the 18th century.
Reissued around 1900, this plate in excellent condition depicts a gardener courting a young woman. They are spied on by a shocked-looking woman and surrounded by vegetation.
Below the engraving we can read the following caption: “The Gallant Gardener. Dedicated to Mr Boullogne, Ordinary State Councilor and to the Royal Finance Council By his very humble and very obedient Servants Helman and Choffard. »
This engraving was reissued in a limited edition.
A beautiful rectangular gilded and molded frame highlights the work.
