    Alphonse Lamotte, born in Le Havre on December 10, 1844 and died there on May 12, 1914, was a French engraver and burinist.
    A pupil of Jean-Jacques Outhwaite and Louis-Pierre Henriquel-Dupont, Alphonse Lamotte made his debut at the 1869 Salon. He produced a large number of portraits and interpretive engravings.
    A member of the Société des artistes français since 1883, he won third-class (1877), second-class (1880) and first-class (1883) medals.
    He won a gold medal at the Nice International Exhibition (1883-1884), an honorary medal at the 1883 Salon de la Société nationale des beaux-arts, and a gold medal at the Amsterdam International Exhibition (1883), Diplôme d'Honneur at the Exposition des lauréats de France in London (1887), Gold Medallist at the Melbourne International Exhibition (1888), Gold Medallist at the 1888 Universal Exhibition in Barcelona, Gold Medallist at the 1889 Universal Exhibition in Paris.
    He was named Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur on October 29, 1889.
    Lamotte directs and teaches at the Le Havre School of Fine Arts. He is curator of the city's museum.
