This pair of colorful nature prints features four species of hummingbirds with nests, and seven species of butterfly.

They are based on the specimen collection of the Johann Ambrosius Beurer Museum (Ex Museo Beureriano).
The engravings were made after George Wolfgang Knorr (1705-1761), and bear his signature: "Knorr ad Nat fet et exc".

George Wolfgang Knorr, born 1705, died 1761, was a German engraver, naturalist and collector. He is best known for his engravings of fossils and natural specimens, which helped spread knowledge of natural history in the 18th century. His works are appreciated for their scientific precision and artistic quality.
