Born in Thessaloniki, ALKIS PIERRAKOS, whose father was a diplomat, lived abroad until 1938.
He studied in Switzerland from 1949-1951 and in London (Slade School of Fine Arts και Central School of Arts and Crafts, 1951-1953). It was in London where he studied with OSKAR KOKOSCHKA and FRANCIS BACON.
His first solo exhibition was held in 1954 in Cambridge. The same year, he moved to Paris.
In 1972, he became, still in Paris, a founding member of the group “La Ligne et le Signe”.
In 1995, the Association for the Promotion of the Work of Alkis Pierrakos was founded.
