China, 20th century, superb and unusual work in ink and ink wash depicting two junks on a river in a mountain landscape. Two seals and inscriptions at the top and another at bottom right.
The text visible at the top is translated from Chinese as "Clear dawn on the river of Shu". The painter's seal is also affixed.
A painting of very fine quality, worthy of the Chinese tradition of depicting landscapes in ink on paper in cameos of very limited polychromy. Both come from the same private collection in the Loire Valley.
The work is in good condition, except for the paper creasing, which has no effect, and a wet spot in the lower left-hand corner.
Dimensions when viewed: height 49 cm, width 49 cm (63 cm x 63 cm with frame).
