This is a charcoal drawing of a dancing couple by French playwright, poet and lithographer Henry Bataille (1872-1922). Bataille illustrated some of the posters for his plays and produced numerous copper and woodcuts.
The technique and movement of this work are beautifully executed.
Condition: stains on the protective glass, a broken corner of the frame (top left), some freckling and pitting on the drawing. However, the work remains in presentable condition.
