    Description:
    White opaline, painted and gilded.

These large vases with the perfect shape of simplicity have a celestial blue background on the base and the neck. Two matte black rings with gold threads delimit these blue parts. The central body is the color of opaline (white), decorated with three mascarons presenting dog heads.
This unusual subject indicates an order, the dog heads representing real dogs that their mistress or master wanted to immortalize. We recognize the production of Baccarat by the quality and among other things the blue arabesques found with the same design on certain vases of the famous crystal factory.
In addition, the perfection of the shape is one of the most complex works in manual glassmaking because the slightest imperfection of the curves would be noticed. These vases have kept the label of the store in which they were presented. Opaline objects were very successful throughout the 19th century, manufacturers offered the most varied shapes and often glassmaking feats like our vases. If you would like to receive a video of this object in order to better “understand” it, or detailed photos, do not hesitate to ask us.
