Who is unaware of Emile Gallé's love for the Vosges mountains near his home town of Nancy? Here we see the sensitivities of the famous glassmaker for these landscapes that he surveyed for a long time, as much for pleasure as to support his knowledge in botany.
On this stocky vase made of etched and acid-etched multi-layered glass, a lakeside landscape is immediately recognizable as the famous blue line of the Vosges. The rotating decoration draws a landscape in a beautiful shade of blue illuminated by a sky with the rising sun, skilfully realized in a white glass slightly tinted with yellow, like a play of light through the morning mists. This vase is in perfect condition.
