Large oval bowl (or jardinière) in richly cut Baccarat crystal.

Our bowl belongs to the very superior category of Baccarat crystal production, listed in some of the catalogs from the beginning of the last century; the special 1916 catalog dedicated to cut pieces shows a number of pieces with the same motif, including ours designated as a compote bowl.

Baccarat's technical supremacy can be measured by the intricacy of its decoration and the perfection of its execution.

An antique piece dating from before 1936, it does not bear the crystal maker's signature.

A fine collector's item, ideal for serving fruit salad or compote, or as a centerpiece, in very good condition (with one scallop missing, and a small chip on another, but hardly noticeable due to the complexity of the decoration).
