Nicolas Petit - Cabinetmaker. Paris. Received Master in 1761. We find his mark: N. Petit on a quantity of furniture in Marquetry and Ebony, which prove his Taste and Talent. Having passed Master in 1761, Nicolas Petit opened his workshop rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, under the name "Au Nom de Jésus" He will work there for more than thirty years, adapting without problem to the evolution of the different styles of the 18th century and very quickly acquired a great reputation. His career began with very refined dressers of curved shape in the Louis XV style, secretaries, desks, small tables, finely marquetry with flowering branches. With the appearance of the "Greek taste" he was inspired by classical art for the decoration of his furniture.
