A violin-shaped ceremonial table with a marquetry of precious woods combining rosewood, burr cedar and lemon tree.
This exceptional piece of furniture has an inlaid top of burr cedar and lemon tree forming refined arabesques and volutes. Around it, a wide band of rosewood is highlighted by a chiseled bronze strip that follows the curves of the furniture.
The curved belt, following the lines of the top, opens in front of a large drawer decorated with burr cedar and lemon tree, on a rosewood base. This drawer is surrounded by a bronze rod and presents in its center an important sculpture, also in bronze, representing the face of a child accompanied by flowers and volutes, on a rosewood background.
The sides of this table are a reminder of the facade with a bronze sculpture in the center and marquetry of precious woods.
The set rests on four curved legs decorated with large espagnolettes with soft faces, in the upper part.
The legs are equipped with two faces in rosewood on the inside and two faces on the outside in burr cedar with marquetry in lemon tree on a rosewood background. In continuity of each espagnolette, a bronze beaded rod joins sculpted sabot feet.
Having benefited from a restoration in the rules of art this Napoleon III table is a unique piece of furniture which will attract the eyes by its rich ornaments and the perfect harmony of these precious woods.
