This beautiful Louis XIV walnut writing table opens with a drawer in the waistband, and rests on four turned legs ending in slightly flattened balls, connected by a flat, sinuous X-shaped brace. The color of the walnut is warm, and the wood, chosen with great care by the carpenter who made it, is of the highest quality, which has enabled this table to age well and come to us in excellent condition. A few minor restorations have been made, and the top, which had become hollow, has been straightened. The spacer in the center was intended to support a spinning top, which has now disappeared.
Late 17th or early 18th century.
Dimensions : Top 97 cm x 63 cm, height 72 cm.
