Violin table in blackened pearwood, fully inlaid in the Boulle style, named after André-Charles BOULLE, master cabinetmaker to King Louis XIV.
The top presents a marquetry of scrolls, foliage and flowers in finely chiseled brass, on a background of tortoiseshell, underlined by a bronze baguette around the edge.
The curved belt, following the lines of the top, opens in front of a large drawer equipped with an original functional lock with key. This drawer is surrounded by a bronze rod and presents in its center an important entry with the effigy of the sun king.
The sides of this table are a reminder of the facade with sculptures and similar marquetry surrounded by shaped baguette.
The whole rests on four curved feet. Usually adorned with espagnolettes, we find here rare full sculptures of cherubs, in a sitting position, legs crossed.
This base, dressed with gadrooned rods, ends on bronze sabots.
Restored in the rules of the art, this table with rich ornamentation is a unique piece of furniture that will touch the lovers of French art furniture.
