Designed by: CHRIS WEGERIF (famous Dutch Art Nouveau architect) Netherlands.
A unique and highly decorative Djatiwood sand stand.
Mounted with copper rails with movable hooks.
Inlaid on both sides with copper sands.
Still with the original dealer's mark for:
"ARTS and CRAFTS The Hague"
On one side the stand shows the fine carved letter: "H",
Which means: "Prince Hendrik"
On the other side the date: "April 19, 1902", which was Prince Hendrik's birthday.
The highly detailed fine carving by Pieter Puijpe (1874-1942), a well-known Dutch sculptor and woodcarver.
The sculpture shows sands and ship anchors and in the center at the top the royal crown.

He became admiral in 1901.
This sand stand was a gift from Queen Emma of the Netherlands to Prince Hendrik for his birthday in 1902 and for his appointment in 1901 as admiral of the Dutch fleet.
