Louis XV work table in rosewood and palisander marquetry, made in a Parisian workshop in the mid-19th century.
This rare piece of furniture has a top rich in arabesques and scrolls in rosewood, inlaid in a rosewood veneer arranged in butterfly wings. The center is decorated with a monogrammed brass plate -RD-. This top opens with two chiseled brass hinges and is held by an original compass on the right side. We notice a lock with two hooks in perfect working order accompanied by a sculpted key. A rectangular mirror surrounded by baguettes is present on the flap. Inside this work table is a sliding drawer in rosewood, accompanied by a box with three compartments. Once pulled out we discover an interior in rosewood as well.
The front of the drawer, with movement and concave, is inlaid with rosewood and palisander forming beautiful arabesques. The underside of this small work table has a hopper-shaped drawer.
Finally, this table rests on four elegantly curved hump legs, ending in gilded bronze sabots. The two outer sides on a rosewood background are inlaid with rosewood.
Graceful and clever, this Louis XV work table will seduce you with its unique shape combining rich marquetry and elegance.
