Rognon Small Dressing Table and its Chauffeuse in Cherry - 1950

A set of two pieces of cherrywood furniture, consisting firstly of a small, kidney-shaped dressing table in the retour d'Égypte style. Its top, framed with wire veneer in the center, opens onto a compartmentalized interior lined with removable fabric backs. This dressing table also features a mirror with a wide molding around the perimeter, whose lines match those of the flap. To preserve the privacy of this space, it is fitted with a working original lock and key. The waistband features two small drawers with brass lentil knobs, in which the bottoms are identical to those described above. This full-sided dressing table features four solid cherrywood uprights, carved into elegant swan necks and terminating in claw feet. They rest on a brace with widely cut edges, itself set on four ball feet.
This piece of furniture is complemented by a delightful solid cherrywood chaise longue. Its ideally curved back and squared seat are upholstered in a champagne-yellow fabric with leafy motifs, the same as that used for the dressing table. The uprights also feature graceful white palmipeds. The seat rests on four saber feet, the front of which are topped with flower-decorated connecting dice.
You'll be charmed by this perfectly matched set, both in spirit and size. Modest in size, this dressing table and chaise longue will be equally at home in the home of a young child, a teenager or a woman, all of whom will share the pleasure of taking time for themselves in a cocooning environment.
