Psyche chest of drawers in walnut, Maison Guinand-Leglas, Rocaille style - 1900

Beautiful chest of drawers in walnut veneer and solid walnut, topped by a large Psyche, made by the Nantes-based firm Guinand-Leglas, known for its excellence.
This piece of furniture, combining the refinement of a dressing table and the storage capacity of an elegant Rocaille style chest of drawers, is composed of a drawer in the waist, then three identical drawers. Each front has a walnut veneer arranged in four leaves, embellished in relief by small moldings connected by carved wood elements. On each drawer, we find an original bronze entrance accompanied by a lock and a key in working condition.
On each side of this psyche chest of drawers, an upright finely carved with scrolls and foliage, in the upper and lower part, ends in a foot with acanthus leaf.
Joining the front legs, a low crosspiece is decorated with a shell and carved volutes.
The sides of this piece of furniture are composed of a veneer of four leaves.
On the top a red and white griotte marble, with throat and beak of corbin, is embedded in a molded surround.
The psyche part, taking up the ornamentation of the chest of drawers, is composed of a large mirror with curved lines and two small drawers with wooden knobs. On the sides, consoles, moldings and the frame of the mirror are in solid walnut and are accompanied by an important sculpture on the pediment.
The mercury mirror, beveled, is original and in perfect condition. The tilt of the mirror is adjusted by bronze clamps in the shape of pine cones.
Its fine execution and sculpted ornaments will delight connoisseurs in search of unique and charismatic furniture.
