Planter from the Napoleon III period, with a barely visible Blackened Wood structure since it is almost completely covered with a "Boulle" marquetry of great quality and finesse. It is constituted by definition of Red turtle scales and chiseled brass, forming Arabesques, Rinceaux and Volutes.
This piece of furniture offers a bare compartment, 16 cm deep, bordered by an openwork gallery. Initially intended to receive a plant or a rosebush - in a zinc box which is now missing - we can choose to divert this space from its original function. The curved frame of this top is trimmed in each corner with a floral-patterned Bronze and is edged with a cut-out brass baguette. These are similar ornaments that can be found on the four sides of this Jardinière, as if to further enhance its many Red and Gold Marquetry.
Note the presence in the belt, in the center of the two longest sides, of two generous original Bronze Mascarons. Identical to each other, they thus confirm the absence of distinction between a "front" and a "rear" on this Decorative piece of furniture in the middle.
The whole rests on four legs with pronounced curves, embellished with period bronzes: Busts of naked children in the upper part, clogs in the lower part, Bone nets uniting them.
This Luminous Planter in shimmering colors has been carefully restored and can now bring Chic and Prestige to its next home.
