Elegant Napoleon III support cabinet in blackened pearwood, topped with Carrara marble and embellished with ormolu and chased brass inlays featuring foliage, foliage, flowers and ribbons.
It opens with a framed door adorned with a fine chased brass composition of ribbons, garlands of flowers and acanthus leaves surrounding a vase. This is surrounded by inlaid brass fillets and a scalloped bronze arch. The door is fitted with an ornate key that accompanies the original working lock. The uprights on either side of the cabinet feature gilded bronze falls. At the bottom, gadrooned bronze strips run around the edge of the cabinet. The unit rests on four scrolled feet. The upper part of this piece of furniture is adorned with a floral frieze surrounded by inlaid brass fillets. Above, gray-veined white Carrara marble is recessed and encircled by shaped bronze mouldings.
The interior, in mahogany veneer, features two adjustable shelves on racks.
