Elegant mahogany and mahogany veneer barber, Empire period. Resting on four caster shells, it opens with a door, a niche with a mercury ice bottom, a thin drawer at the top for toilet accessories and razors under the marble. The facade is marked by large columns with gilded bronze columns framing the door and also for the niche. Beautiful decoration of chiseled and mercury-gilded bronzes, with a flaming torch motif, interlacing line, column rings. This torch motif found on wall lights is generally attributed to Thomire. Parisian work from the Empire period, 1810s.

The barber is a vanity unit intended to place the pitcher and the porcelain basin for the toilet of the man who is standing, then to be stored in the niche. This one is a beautiful model with neat finishes.

Very good condition, pad varnish cleaned and repolished by our cabinetmaker.
