Lady Napoleon III's desk in blackened pear wood, stamp varnish, decorated with bronze and made up of two elements.
The base unit is composed of an unfolding top with a partly mitered frame inside composed of amaranth, rosewood, lemon tree fillet and stained wood. We find two chiseled brass hinges for the opening.
Partly interior, this furniture presents a current red leather composed of cold vignettes, golden vignettes and golden corner patterns. The top rests for stability on a belted drawer with a beautiful bronze ribbon entry. The lock and key are original and in perfect working order.
This small desk has refined lines. The sides are slightly convex towards the rear. It rests on four turned legs lacquered at the top then fitted with a bronze circle, continuing with grooves with brass asparagus. Ringed at the spacer, the feet end with a spinning top. We notice that we have two rear feet more apart than the front ones which gives beauty and elegance to the whole. From below, a spacer connects all the feet with a rectangle in the center with a gadrooned bronze and a pine cone, also in bronze, in the center.
The tall unit is made up of two drawers, the sides and bottom of which are made of mahogany. They open with a chiseled bronze button. We find an upper plate, the edge of which is adorned with a molded bronze molding, completed by two bronze columns supporting another recessed plate with the same bronze molding on the edge.
Two small bronze tops finish the top of these columns. The pediment of the rear panel is in a gendarme's hat with a large gadrooned bronze molding underneath.
On the upper part we find a magnificent bronze composed of a ribbon, a garland of flowers and foliage on each side.
This Napoleon III tiered lady's desk is very original and has exceptional material quality.
