Small Cylinder Desk, Empire Period - Early 19th Century

Furniture in mahogany and burl mahogany veneer, in two elements.
In the lower part we find two small drawers pulling from below. In the center, a long drawer allowing to activate the opening of the cylinder. The flap is lowered by brass hinges and rests on the drawer forming an inclined plane. This one is dark green cowhide leather with golden vignette and patterns on the corners. The inside of the cylinder is black lacquered and forms a half-round cavity to position the writing accessories. The drawer has a net entry highlighting the passage of the original key activating the lock in working order. This set rests on the front with two turned legs with a collar in the lower part and a capital in the upper part. The back feet are straight. A curved half-round base rests on "pancake" legs.
The upper element of this piece of furniture consists of a door whose surround is mitred with a chamfered and square interior. Closing is done with an original key and lock. The door is darkened with an original mercury mirror. This opens by attaching it to a rotating column. The interior has three adjustable shelves on racks. These mahogany burl columns have a chiseled bronze capital at the top and a chiseled collar at the bottom. Below, we have a sliding shelf pulled by two bronze "lens" buttons. This allows you to deposit books or other items.
