Charles Vandenhove (1927-2019), rare desk in solid afzelia, the top covered in black linoleum, equipped with a 2-drawer plywood box.
The desk top has many small alterations on its surface, we have chosen not to replace it: Its condition attests to its age. The contrast between these signs of normal wear and the renovated appearance of the woodwork also offers an undeniable cachet of authenticity.
Although the modernist style was born in the 1930s, it was especially popular in the 1950s and continued until the early 1970s. This desk is therefore part of this period and its lines are sometimes familiar with those found in certain models by Le Corbusier (and Pierre Jeanneret) whom he met at the beginning of his career, around 1951, just like Auguste Perret or Gio Ponti.
