Louis XVI Period Flat Desk in Mahogany with Gilded Bronze Decor Circa 1780-1790

 

Large flat desk in mahogany, with mahogany and ebony veneer featuring gilded bronze decor, as well as splendid leather inlay work.

It opens with three drawers on the front and has two sliding shelves lined with patinated blue leather and decorated with roulette patterns. The desk rests on four beautiful tapered legs with fluting, ending in bronze gilded sabots and casters. The top features beautiful leather inlay work with patinated blue leather and gilded roulette decor, all set within a gilded bronze slip.

 

Very likely Parisian work from the Louis XVI period, manufactured circa 1780-1790.

 

Dimensions: Height 30.3 inches - Length 63 inches without handles - Total length 94.5 inches - Depth 29.5 inches - 2 side shelves of 15.7 inches.
