Louis XVI period lady's desk, called "bonheur du jour", in lemon and amaranth veneer with brass inlays. This is a Parisian work, veneered on oak, from the late 18th century (Louis XVI, Directoire period).
This small piece of furniture, extremely precious and refined, has retained all its accessories for the multiple uses for which it was intended: a small cupboard in the center of the tier, galleries with glass backs for storing and displaying precious objects, drawers for jewelry, including one with its small integrated safe, as well as a green leather-lined writing drawer with a drawer for an inkwell.
This excellently crafted piece is veneered with refined woods: lemon for a luminous effect and amaranth, including brass inlays on the back. It can be dismantled into 2 parts for transport.
A fine amateur piece, Louis XVI Directoire-era lemonwood furniture is among the most refined furniture of the late 18th century.
Everything is original: marble, bronze, mercury mirrors, only one lock has been replaced and has a different key. Our furniture is in excellent condition, with a beautiful, traditionally-applied buffer varnish.
