Small Napoleon III work table in lacquered wood, presenting on its so-called "bowl" top motifs of flowers, net and foliage, as well as a molding around its perimeter. The throat-shaped waistband is also highlighted with clear fillets. The cover lifts, revealing on its underside an engraving depicting a country scene, with a fisherman holding his catch accompanied by two ladies. Being able to be locked at will thanks to its original lock in working order accompanied by its key, this table offers a small interior space in blackened wood, initially dedicated to the storage of sewing utensils. The base consists of four so-called “rosary” legs resting on a cut-out element underlined with clear threads, resting on the ground on casters: this is united by a spacer with the same rosary design.
This little work table, almost bicentenary, will find its place in various decorations, and will appeal to history buffs with its authenticity and solidity.
