Fine quality furniture, attributed to the famous cabinetmaker Jean - François HACHE (1730 - 1796).
The dynasty continued with three sons, also cabinetmakers, the best-known being Jean-François who, having worked with his father and grandfather while continuing to use the same wood species, evolved decorations and forms with the development of the Louis XVI style, but again, in a style that remained very marked and different from the motifs and woods used by his Parisian colleagues.
The eldest of Pierre Hache's three cabinetmaking sons, Jean-François is the most famous of the dynasty. He began working with his father, who had set up shop in Grenoble's Place Claveyson, and while continuing to collaborate with him, he set up on his own in 1754, before taking over his father's workshop in 1770. He quickly became a household name, and for over thirty years ran numerous workshops and stores in Grenoble. He supplied the furniture for most of Dauphiné's sumptuous residences, and was the private cabinetmaker to Duke Louis-Philippe d'Orléans, Governor of Dauphiné.
Grenoble Louis XV period, circa 1760, 18th century.
