Louis XVI period secretary chest of drawers. Parisian work, veneered on oak. Not stamped. This Greek-style chest is early Louis XVI, circa 1775-80. Our commode is a piece of furniture with a mechanism that simulates a chest of drawers, but uncovers a desk pedestal by unfolding the first drawer. The front is divided into 3 rows of drawers, with rosewood marquetry in amaranth framing and fillet underlining. Chased bronze trim. Our chest of drawers is topped with molded white marble.

An original and charming piece of furniture, typical of 18th-century "douceur de vivre", practical and easy to place thanks to its reduced volume.

In excellent condition; the buffer varnish has been redone.
