This secretary is in good condition and is of high quality. Stamped on the back at the top. We don't have the key to the interior locker. The locks are cloverleaf, we have the key.
Note: a few scratches and cracks, traces of normal restorations on the mahogany, a few old wormholes, small accident and loss on the gallery, scratches and a few stains on the leather of the writing desk, wear and tear over time, good look at the photos.
*Louis Moreau:
master on September 27, 1764. Died in 1791. At the time he received the master's degree, this cabinetmaker took over, rue de l'Echelle-Saint-Honoré "At the descent of the Tuileries", the collection of his colleague Genty, who had just made bankruptcy. Like the latter, he employs renowned craftsmen such as Bircklé, Foullet and Topino. His furniture demonstrates great eclecticism. In Louis XV, Transition or Louis XVI style, they are decorated with veneer, various marquetry, lacquer or varnish. Louis Moreau left his stamp on beautiful Louis clean and rigorous, mostly in mahogany. Moreau worked for an aristocratic clientele and even for the court, which placed orders with him during the reign of Louis XVI through the administration of Menus-Plaisirs. After his death, his widow kept his workshop and then left it to her son. (Excerpt from Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIème siècle by Pierre Kjellberg)
