Secretary in Marquetry, Transition Louis XV / Louis XVI - Late 19th century

Secretary in Rio rosewood and yellow mahogany topped with a red Pyrenean marble with a beak molded edge.
It opens with a drawer in the upper part, a flap and three drawers in the lower part. Their fronts are curved, inlaid with light wood representing floral motifs, and equipped with bronze handles as well as original functional locks with adjusted keys and entries.
At mid-height, this piece of furniture is also bulging, reminiscent of the so-called "tomb" chests of drawers typical of the Louis XIV style.
The interior of this furniture offers a writing space with a rosewood veneer surround, and dark red sheepskin leather with cold gilded vignettes and a central motif. We find two identical drawers with curved fronts, in rosewood and rosewood marquetry arranged in a checkerboard pattern.
The uprights are decorated with high and intermediate falls, and end with sabots.
The lower crosspiece is slightly curved, with a bronze base.
The sides are veneered in frieze and fully inlaid in the same spirit.
The inside of the drawers are in solid oak.
This rare piece of furniture will please by its curved lower part in the shape of a tomb and by its dimensions.
