Lovely secretary made by Jules Leleu (1883-1961) famous French designer of the Art Deco period. This legendary decorator and cabinetmaker knew how to combine elegance and luxury in a refined style.
This quality furniture with refined lines in mahogany veneer has a drawer in the upper part that opens with two slightly cup-shaped brass knobs.
A flap decorated with mother-of-pearl and precious wood inlays representing a plant scene opens using an original key and lock in working order. At the opening we discover a sycamore interior with the exception of the fronts of shelves and separations. This storage space has a small drawer on each side, accompanied by niches.
The seat is lined with original leather with cold label.
This private secretary also has two nut doors in the lower part with top and bottom lock with original key. The entrances are rectangular with a concave shape.
Encrusted on the inside of the right door, we find the signature of Jules Leleu on an ivory plate.
Behind the doors we discover a sycamore interior decorated with a shelf.
The lower crosspiece is animated, like the doors, and dressed in a brass half-round.
On each side, this secretary has two columns attached with canted sides, ringed at the top and bottom. Finally, this piece of furniture rests on legs with cut sides also tapering downwards, accompanied by a bronze shoe.
The recessed top on the front and the sides are dressed in a bronze rod is refined with a wide molding on the front and the sides. On the back of the cabinet, the serial number – 16060 – is indicated in several places.
With its warm color and the harmony of its shapes, this perfectly sized writing desk will blend harmoniously into your decor.
