This solid cherrywood secretary, topped with Carrara marble, opens at the waist with a drawer embellished with ebony fillets and fitted with two bronze lion's head pull rings, accompanied by a functional original lock with key and escutcheon.
Below, the flap features a dark mitered frame with a panel also highlighted with ebony fillets.
This flap, which locks with an authentic three-point lock with trefoil key, is mounted on a brass compass and reveals a writing area dressed in original green leather with gilded vignettes.
The inner part, known as the tabernacle, features a top drawer and eight small drawers, one of which is compartmentalized, and a larger central drawer.
The latter is similarly fitted with a working lock.
The lower part of the cabinet features a double door with a top and bottom lock, supplied with its cloverleaf key, which closes by means of a nut system.
The projecting pilasters, tapering towards the bottom, are embellished with caryatid busts and gilded bronze elements.
These pilasters end in blackened wood lion paws at the front and turned feet at the rear.
The sides are each composed of two panels with a central crosspiece.
The back and drawer bottoms are in oak.
This secretary is particularly attractive for its size and the warm tone of its cherry wood. Often offered in mahogany, this model is particularly rare in fruitwood.
