Louis XVI period secretary in rosewood marquetry, amaranth and light wood fillets.

It opens with a drawer in the upper part, a flap opening onto 4 lockers and 4 compartments, and with two doors in the lower part opening onto a shelf and a lockable box.

Sainte Anne gray marble top; beautiful ornamentation of chiseled and gilded bronzes (wear to the gilding).

Parisian work stamped J.F.Griffet from the Louis XVI period.

Jean-François Griffet was made master on July 28, 1779. Installed on rue Ponceau then rue Perdue, he produced some Louis XV style furniture, then especially Transition and Louis XVI furniture. A secretary similar to ours is illustrated in Pierre Kjellberg's work on 18th century French furniture.
