Magnificent Louis XV Style Secretary, inlaid with Fruitwood, Walnut, in Norci Wood Frames, resting on Small Cambered Rolling Legs.

This secretaire opens with two leaves at the bottom, revealing two interior shelves and a flap at the top, revealing niches, compartments, seven small drawers and a writing tablet lined with a black leather top gilded with Petit Fer. Its Wooden Top, Front and Sides adorned with Geometric Decoration. Lock escutcheons and draw knobs in gilded bronze. Key included.

Jean-François Hache, known as the elder. Cabinetmaker. Grenoble, France. He expanded the workshop of Pierre Hache, his father. He produced a large number of pieces of furniture of remarkable style and finish, with joints that fit together admirably and adorned with Alpine wood marquetry.
The eldest of Pierre Hache's three cabinetmaking sons, Jean-François is the most famous of the dynasty. He began working with his father, who had set up shop in Grenoble's Place Claveyson, and while continuing to collaborate with him, he set up on his own in 1754, before taking over his father's workshop in 1770. He quickly became a household name, and for over thirty years ran numerous workshops and stores in Grenoble. He supplied the furniture for most of Dauphiné's sumptuous residences, and was the private cabinetmaker to the Duke Louis-Philippe d'Orléans, Governor of Dauphiné.
