Superb Louis XVI period Mahogany and Mahogany Veneer Secretary, opening with two leaves at the bottom, revealing an interior shelf, a drawer and a flap at the top. Its flap reveals Pigeonholes, Six Small Drawers and a Writing Table with a Havana Leather Top gilded with Petit Fer.
This Secretaire has an attractive Flanders Red Marble top. Its mounts are cut fluted. Beautiful Gilded Bronze Ornamentation such as Pull Rings, Entrées de Serrures, Chutes, Mascarons. Original hardware. With its Keys, Beautiful Wooden Essence. Stamped on the left rear jamb.

Jacques Bircklé practiced his trade on rue de Charenton, then rue Saint-Nicolas. Later, between 1785 and 1789, he was commissioned by Marie-Antoinette at the Château de Saint-Cloud, Madame Elizabeth in Montreuil, the Duc d'Orléans and the Princesse de Lamballe.
