Guillotine desk in Cuban mahogany, Louis XVI period - Late 18th century

This magnificent Louis XVI-style solid cuba mahogany secrétaire à guillotine dating from the late 18th century is a true jewel of cabinetmaking.
It opens with two glass doors, revealing two adjustable shelves on toothed racks, lockable thanks to an authentic and functional lock, accompanied by its Louis XVI brass escutcheons.
Underneath, a drawer adorned with ring handles and a lock with escutcheon adds a touch of elegance.
The secretary section opens with a pivot-mounted flap.
The inside of this flap, trimmed in green leather with a central gilded motif and vignettes, gives access to six small drawers with brass knobs, one of which is compartmentalized, and a storeroom opening through a door with lock.
These elements are topped by four compartments, completing the storage offer.
The lower part of the cabinet features a shelf behind a double door with lock, also original.
The uprights are fluted half-columns, ending in ringed spindle feet.
The discreet cornice is highlighted by a frieze of crenellations, adding a final touch of sophistication.
