Small lady's secretary, called "billet doux": the screen could be raised to hide the reading and writing of the reply of tickets (messages). This rare piece of furniture in solid mahogany and veneer, with marble and brass gallery, covered in leather with vignette, dates from the end of the 18th century. Louis XVI or Directoire style. The sloping secretary part is removable, and reveals a marble top.
